Native American History Through Ledger Art

Billings Public Library will host Native American History Through Ledger Art with Seidel Standing Elk on Thursday, October 5th in the Billings Public Library Community Room at 7:00PM. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Part lecture and part interactive art lesson, attendees will be transported to another time and reminded of Montana’s rich, Native History, and, with Mr. Standing Elk’s guidance, receive the opportunity to create their own Ledger Art.
Mr. Standing Elk is a member of the Northern Cheyenne Nation and a descendant of the So-taaeo-o, the Morning Star People.
“My art is a diversity of reflections of the values, visions, dreams and stories told to me by my family, relatives, and elders of the Cheyenne. To be a traditional and contemporary artist at this time is my life is very  rewarding and it is my honor to share these evolving times with everyone.  The traditional style keeps me in touch with the Cheyenne and So-taaeo-o culture and while the contemporary gives me the freedom to be creative.  In my heart there is the Creator who leads me in this circle of life to continue on a beautiful journey to meet other nations of the world.”
