37th Annual Montana Marathon
The Billings Family YMCA is proud to be hosting the 37thannual Montana Marathon after taking over leadership in 2017.
The September 16th race has attracted runners from 32 different states as well as Canada. Participants will travel to Billings to compete in one of five races – the full marathon, half marathon, 10k, team relay, and hand cycle. This year’s goal is 1000 participants for all events.
“Montana Marathon continues to gain national recognition as a destination marathon, but more importantly, 100% of race proceeds go toward scholarships for programs and memberships, advancing the Y’s mission of serving people of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of their inability to pay.” said Kim Kaiser, Billings Family YMCA CEO. Local school groups and non-profit organizations, who volunteer at the water stops and on the course, also receive funding for their school programs.
The USA Track and Field certified 26.2 mile marathon course begins in Molt, MT at 7am and finishes in Daylis Stadium near downtown Billings. The race is also a Boston Marathon qualifier. The public is invited to cheer runners along the race course, and enjoy a post-race finish-line celebration which will include live music, food vendors, and family friendly games. The YMCA is also hosting a free Kid’s 1 mile run through Pioneer Park beginning at 11am. Parents are encouraged to pre-register their children to guarantee a marathon t-shirt and medal.
There is still plenty of time left to register for one of the races. Visit the Billings Family YMCA race website at
