Winston’s Gift Guide

I’m sure Santa will bring me everything on my wish list. I am his favorite sloth, by the way. But, I still worry about my friends here at ZooMontana.

That’s why I do my best to give them gifts I know they’ll love! Even if they’re on the naughty list, they can count on receiving the perfect gift from their two-toed pal, Winston.

I’m sharing my shopping list with you, too. I hope a few of these ideas help you land the perfect gift for your loved ones. I bet our friends have similar personalities and interests.

Blue Death-Feigning Beetles
  • Theater tickets for these wonderful actors
The zoo’s blue death-feigning beetles are interesting, and I’d like to know them better, but every time I try to talk to them, they just roll over and play dead.

I know it’s instinctual, but I’d really like to talk to them! They’re terrific actors! I could learn a thing or two.

I’m sure they’ll love visiting the theater, so I’m giving them tickets to the Alberta Bair Theater this year.

Pabu the Red Panda
  • “Passes” to a museum for my arch nemesis
Listen here. I’m the last animal who’d like to give Pabu a gift, but I can’t have him question my character.

So this year, Pabu is receiving passes to the Yellowstone County Museum. It’s an amazing local museum and a must-visit for history buffs, and admission is always free.

Don’t tell Pabu.

Khan & Grif, Sichuan Takins
  • Warm gear for friends who love the outdoors

The zoo’s takins, Khan and Grif, are definitely on this year's nice list. I owe them, too, so I want to find them something nice.

They’re experts at retaining heat, but who can’t use a little help?

I’m going to give them gear for staying warm! I know I’ll find plenty at Scheels and The Base Camp.

Amarillo, Red-tailed Hawk

  • The perfect travel bag for a friend with the travel bug
Amarillo is the zoo’s resident red-tailed hawk, and while he can’t fly himself due to an injury, he still loves to travel.

Last month, he told me he’s saved up airline miles, and he’s ready to take a long vacation. Yes, I’m jealous!

He’ll love a bag from Red Oxx. They’re headquartered in Billings, and their gear is long-lasting, so he’ll think of me every time he travels.

Bert the Bison
  • A brewery tour for the thirsty bison
I saved the best for last! My best friend, that is—Bert. He’s a bison with excellent taste in local brews.

Each holiday season, we venture into the cold to enjoy a few breweries along the Billings Brew Trail. It’s always worth it, even if I have to bundle up.

This year, we’re excited to try the newest options in Billings, like 1889 Brewing and 1Ō5 Brewing.

Cheers! And here’s to tackling your shopping lists.
